Shrink the PDF, keep the pages as pages
Drop a PDF up to 20 MB. We rewrite the images inside it on the server. Text stays text you can select. A scan is already a photo of the page, so the Small setting can blur the type.
Email and a lot of portals stop at 1 MB, 2 MB, or 5 MB. Pick that cap and we try a stronger pass until the file fits. If it cannot, you still get the smallest file from that run.
How to compress a PDF
- Drop one PDF, up to 20 MB and 80 pages.
- Balanced is the default for email and forms. Sharp keeps more detail. Small is the tightest.
- If the form names a limit, pick 1, 2, 5, or 10 MB. Leave it off when any smaller file is enough.
- Compress. Delete the file when you have it. It is deleted within 1 hour.
What this page will not do
Password-protected PDFs are rejected. We do not unlock files.
A text-only PDF may barely shrink. The bytes are in the photos and scans.
This does not make an editable Word file. Need each page as a photo? PDF to JPG.
Questions
Will I still be able to select the text?
Yes, when the page was real text. A scan stays a picture of the page. Small can soften that picture.
What if it cannot reach 1 MB?
You get the smallest file we could make, and the result says the cap was missed.
Which level should I pick?
Balanced for most uploads. Sharp if you still need to print. Small when the portal is strict and the photos can go soft.
The PDF has a password.
We cannot open it. Remove the password where you created the file.
How many pages?
80 per job. Split a longer file, then compress each part. Photos into a PDF are Images to PDF.
How long do you keep the file?
The PDF is deleted within 1 hour, or immediately if you press delete now.
