Choose the format your destination accepts
Photos for forms and older apps
If an upload rejects an iPhone HEIC or a downloaded WebP, choose HEIC to JPG or WebP to JPG. JPEG suits photos, but it cannot keep transparent areas. Keep the original if you need to edit it later. Changing the filename extension alone does not convert the image.
Transparency, web images and icons
Use WebP to PNG when transparent edges must stay transparent. For a website that accepts WebP, JPG to WebP gives you a WebP copy to compare with the original. A favicon field that specifically requests ICO needs PNG to ICO; PNG and ICO are different file formats.
Images into a document, or pages into images
Images to PDF places your photos into a PDF. PDF to JPG renders PDF pages as images; it does not extract the original embedded photos or recognize text. If you already have several PDFs and want one document, use Merge PDF.
Guides for this job
- Open iPhone HEIC photos on WindowsIf Windows Photos cannot open an iPhone HEIC, check Microsoft's HEIF and HEVC instructions. Convert a JPEG copy when the destination needs that format.
- Insert HEIC into PowerPointIf PowerPoint cannot insert your iPhone HEIC, try a JPEG copy. Format support varies by Office version and installed codecs.
- Insert HEIC into Google DocsIf a HEIC photo fails to insert into Google Docs or Slides, try a JPEG copy. Check the saved document and the actual upload requirements.
- Why the upload rejects your SVGIf a field rejects SVG but accepts PNG, rasterize a copy at the required dimensions. Check the actual format and byte limits before uploading.
