iPhone HEIC to JPEG on the server
iPhones save HEIC. Most forms, Windows PCs, and WhatsApp on older phones want JPEG. We decode the photo with libheif on the server, not in a flaky browser WASM demo.
Live Photos and bursts use the main photo. The Live Photo video is not in the JPEG. HDR is saved as a standard 8-bit image.
How to convert HEIC to JPG
- Drop .heic or .heif from Files, Photos, or the camera button on the phone.
- Convert. Wait for the job; large bursts queue.
- Download JPEG, or a ZIP of several.
- Delete now if the photos should not sit even for an hour.
What we cannot pretend
This is not a video converter. Cinematic mode extras and the Live Photo clip stay behind.
If decode fails, the server is missing a current libheif. We say so instead of handing you a broken JPEG.
Questions
Why won't Windows open my iPhone photo?
It is HEIC. Convert here, then it is a JPEG any PC can open. HEIC on Windows covers Explorer and codec packs.
Why won't Android open it?
Some galleries still skip HEIC. Convert here. HEIC on Android covers Google Photos versus a blank thumbnail.
What happens to a Live Photo?
No video. You get the main photo. Apple's video half is not included.
HDR / photographic styles?
We write a standard 8-bit JPEG. It will look like a normal photo, not an HDR screenshot.
Several photos from a trip?
Up to 10 per job, 20 MB each, then a ZIP.
Then make it 100 KB?
Yes. Run Compress to 100 KB on the JPEG.
Does GPS stay in the file?
The HEIC is re-encoded as JPEG, so GPS usually does not survive. Use Remove EXIF if you need to be sure.
