Up to 10 files, 20 MB each.
Compress JPEG only
This page accepts JPEG. It compresses the photo so email, school forms, and site uploads stop rejecting the attachment.
If your file is PNG or HEIC, convert first. Mixing formats on this page is the wrong tool.
How to shrink a JPEG
- Drop JPG or JPEG files, up to 10, 20 MB each.
- Use quality for a lighter photo, or a KB target when the form prints a number.
- Download the new JPEG. Dimensions stay the same unless you also resize.
- Delete when you have the file.
What changes in the JPEG
We do not turn JPEG into PNG here. Transparency never existed in JPEG; a white or chosen background belongs on a convert page.
Progressive vs baseline is an encoder detail, not a setting. A photo with a lot of detail hits a floor: more compression then looks blocky before it hits a tiny KB cap.
Questions
Is JPEG the same as JPG?
Yes. Same format, two extensions. This tool accepts both.
Will it stay a JPEG?
Yes. You get a JPEG back, not WebP, unless you open JPG to WebP.
Can I hit 50 KB from here?
You can set a target, or use Compress to 50 KB, which is built around that cap.
Why did it barely shrink?
The file may already be a tight JPEG. We keep the smaller of the two and say so if there is no gain.
Do you strip GPS?
Not as the point of this page. Use Remove EXIF to wipe GPS, camera, and date tags.
Can I compress iPhone photos here?
Many iPhones save HEIC. Convert with HEIC to JPG, then compress here if you still need it smaller.
