JFIF to JPG
Windows and Chrome sometimes save a JPEG as .jfif. Forms reject the extension. You get the same photo as .jpg, without a second compress. Files are deleted within 1 hour.

Windows saved a JPEG as .jfif
Chrome and some Windows apps write a normal JPEG with the extension .jfif. A form, an old editor, or a school portal then refuses the file.
The photo is already JPEG. We check the markers and hand it back named .jpg. The pixels are not encoded again.
How to turn JFIF into JPG
- Drop .jfif files, up to 10, 20 MB each.
- You see the photo and its pixel size. A PNG renamed to .jfif keeps the button off.
- Convert. The download is the same photo, with a .jpg name.
- Delete it when you have it. Files are deleted within 1 hour.
What stays in the file
GPS and camera tags stay, because the bytes stay. Strip them on Remove EXIF.
This page does not resize or compress. A photo over 32 megapixels is refused.
An iPhone HEIC is a different file. That one is HEIC to JPG.
Questions
Is JFIF the same as JPG?
The image data is JPEG. .jfif is the extension Windows and Chrome sometimes pick.
Will the quality drop?
The download is the file you sent, with the name changed to .jpg.
Can I rename it on my computer?
Yes, when the file really is a JPEG. This page does that check for you.
It says .jfif and still will not open.
Then the bytes are not a JPEG. Renaming a PNG, or a download that stopped halfway, does not fix the photo.
Does the GPS stay?
Yes. Use Remove EXIF when you are about to share the photo.
How long do you keep the file?
It is deleted within 1 hour, or right away if you press delete now.
